Ottery St Mary URC

A church in the community

About Us

Inside the church, looking towards the pulpit.

We are a church from toddlers to those who are 90+; a huge age range. Our members work locally, some further afield, some are retired. We have a wide range of interests from music, quilting, cross stitching, geocaching, flower arranging, long distance running, cycling, reading, swimming, camping, and canoeing.

Praise and Worship

Every Sunday at 10:30 is the morning service – everyone is welcome, we have children’s activities during the service each week during the service and upstairs in the school room
About once a month the Sunday morning service is an all-age service
There are additional services at Christmas and with all the churches in Ottery on Good Friday ahead and after the walk of witness
Our regular prayer meetings and Bible studies are listed in the monthly church bulletin. Copies are available in the vestibule.
Recordings of the service are available on Cassette Tape or as digital (mp3) recordings. Please ask at the Sound Desk – we can copy the service on to a USB memory stick and also occasionally provide copies of the sermons on this site.

During the summer there will be coffee mornings on selected Saturdays on the lawn in front of the church, these include local events like the Food and Family festival and Devon Historic Churches day.  Watch out for announcements on the calendar page.

Supporting Churches Together In Ottery (CTIO)

The church is led by the elders; with all major decisions made by the members at the monthly church meetings. Serving elders are elected by the church meeting for a 3 year term

The church is part of the URC South West Synod. It is also a member of the evangelical alliance.

We currently do not have a local minister and the church is led by the eldership. Services are led by the elders, visiting preachers and members of the the congregation.
